Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 April, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with a delegation led by Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, who is visiting Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia, as well as the development of cultural and humanitarian exchange and improving inter-parliamentary relations were discussed.

In recent years, trade turnover between countries and the number of joint projects have been increasing. In 2023, trade turnover between the countries increased by 23 percent.

The parties discussed the possibilities of implementing joint projects in the fields of transport and logistics, banking, financial and tourism activities, as well as intensifying cultural and humanitarian ties to strengthen friendly relations between peoples.

Particular attention was paid to regular communication between parliaments and the role of interparliamentary friendship groups in this process.

The parties also agreed to develop cooperation in the field of gender equality, strengthening ties between regions and expanding cooperation within international organizations.
