Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungong in Dubai at a parliamentary meeting within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP-28).

During the dialogue, practical aspects of cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Inter-Parliamentary Union were discussed.

The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan’s initiatives in the international arena not only for the region, but also for the world community.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is becoming a platform that strengthens the cohesion of parliaments in resolving pressing issues; last year, the 14th summit of women leaders of parliaments of the IPU member states in Tashkent was effective in all respects.

The Secretary General of the IPU stated that parliaments are participants in the process of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. The II Global Forum on inter-parliamentary cooperation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, which took place on 30 this yea November r in Tashkent, has become an important platform for establishing cooperation and sharing experience for all states in this direction.

At the end of the dialogue, the parties agreed to continue joint projects.
