Tajikistan starts talks with Uzbekistan on 2010 gas supplies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tajikistan started negotiations with Uzbekistan on supplies of natural gas to Tajikistan in 2010, Avesta reported quoting source in Tajiktransgas.

The source said the Tajik company has sent official letter to Uztransgaz on the volume and the price for natural gas for 2010.

Tajiktransgas plans to purchase 400 million cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan, but the sides should agree the price.

The report said Tajikistan imports natural gas at the volume of 8,000 cubic meters per hour, of which 6,000 cubic meters consumed by Tajik aluminum plant.

According to Tajik State Committee,the country imported 188.7 million cubic meters of gas in past period of 2009 for US$45.3 million, which is down by 53..4% compared to the same period of 2008.
