Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon and Secretary General of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Tair Mansurov met on Monday to discuss a concept of the rational and effective use of Central Asian water and energy resources.

International experts from the United Nations, the European Union and other organizations will help draft the concept, Mansurov said after the meeting, Itar-Tass reported.

“The specialists are expected to assist in drafting the concept that will provide for correct interaction between all countries of Central Asia for the sake of their peoples and economies, and guarantee efficient use of their water and energy resources,” he said.

The interlocutors also discussed preparations for Tajikistan’s accession to the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan that has been initially formed.

“Tajikistan has all opportunities for entering this Union,” Mansurov said.

The Eurasian Economic Community is an international economic organization that unites six countries – Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
