A meeting between representatives of the Tajik and Uzbek border services is currently under way in Khujand [northern Tajikistan].

Asia-Plus was told by the head of the press service of the main border directorate of the State Committee on National Security of Tajikistan, Khushnud Rahmatulloyev, that the meeting’s participants were discussing the latest incident that occurred on the [Tajik-Uzbek] border.

"The Tajik border directorate confirms that the incident took place, but for the time being, we would like to refrain from any other comments and assessments of this incident. Possibly, an official comment will be made after the end of the meeting," Rahmatulloyev said.
