Taekwondo athletes of Uzbekistan in full were awarded licenses for the Olympic Games Paris 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Uzbekistan taekwondo WT national team successfully complete the qualification period of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games cycle. The athletes were given an important task - to win the maximum number of licenses for the Games in Paris. It is gratifying to note that the taekwondo athletes fulfilled this mission one hundred percent and won 4 licenses for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In previous Olympic cycles, a maximum of 1 taekwondo athlete became a licensee based on rating points. And this time, two of our representatives made it into the top five. In addition, several more domestic athletes came close to the licensed zone. The results of the Olympic rankings indicate that the results of Uzbek athletes have improved significantly. Also, the fact that two world championships in a row ended with 4 medals means that in the Paris 2024 cycle the Uzbekistan team will be recognized as one of the strongest not only in Asia, but also in world taekwondo.

At the end of 2023, through the Olympic rating, our taekwondo athletes Ulugbek Rashitov (-68 kg) and Svetlana Osipova (+67 kg) became holders of tickets to Paris 2024. Taking into account the regulations of the licensed competition in China, the Uzbekistan team had the right to register two athletes (1 man and 1 woman) who would perform in the tournament. Jasur Jaisunov (-80 kg) and Ozoda Sobirjonova (-67 kg) participated in this start on behalf of Uzbekistan, who justified the trust placed in them. Having made the most of all their capabilities, they were able to add two more licenses to our team’s assets.

Our taekwondo athletes took part in full at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. This success was repeated this time. We especially note that Uzbekistan became one of the few delegations that will go to France in full force for the taekwondo competition. Let us remind you that the domestic taekwondo team is one of 4 teams in the world that will take part in the mixed team event at Paris 2024. This program is included as a demonstration performance.

And so, the list of domestic athletes who will defend the honor of Uzbekistan at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024:
-68 kg: Ulugbek Rashitov
-80 kg: Jasur Jaisunov
-67 kg: Ozoda Sobirjonova
+67 kg: Svetlana Osipova
