Swiss Days takes place in Tashkent for the second time

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 7 to 10 November 2023, “Days of Switzerland” were held in Tashkent for the second time. This year, the events were aimed at developing business relations between Uzbekistan and Switzerland, as well as supporting culture, art and education.

“Days of Switzerland” is a joint project of the Swiss Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Swiss export promotion agency Switzerland Global Enterprise. “Swiss Days” was first held in Uzbekistan in 2022 as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. T

he goal of the project is to develop cooperation in priority areas of Uzbek-Swiss relations, by introducing residents to Swiss culture, the education system, products, as well as advanced Swiss developments and solutions.

“The motto of “Swiss Days” is Quality. Innovation. Reliability. “This is what Switzerland can offer to the whole world, including Uzbekistan,” said Michael Kühn, senior consultant at Switzerland Global Enterprise.

This year, as part of the Swiss Days, seminars were organized on innovation clusters in Switzerland, secondary and higher education in private schools of the Swiss Learning group, as well as a conference on infrastructure “Swiss Infrastructure Day”.

Photo exhibition “Can technology save the world?” took place at TEAM University and was dedicated to advanced technologies that contribute to environmental protection.

The photo exhibition “Courage and Empathy” opened at the Bonum Factum gallery and is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Human Rights Convention. The exhibition presents documentary photographs by Swiss traveler Ella Maillard and Uzbek photographers of the early 20th century, depicting everyday life, social and political events in Uzbekistan in the 1930s. The exhibition “Courage and Empathy” is open until December 12. In the new year, the exhibition will be shown in Bukhara and Khiva.

The business delegation, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Uzbekistan Konstantin Obolensky, included representatives of more than 20 Swiss companies specializing in such areas as business air travel, instrument making, logistics, waste treatment, agriculture, food industry, education and energy.

“Last year, Switzerland entered the top twenty exporting countries in Uzbekistan for the first time. I am convinced that now is the right time to take advantage of the potential for further cooperation between our countries in the private sector. I am very grateful to the government of Uzbekistan and various departments, including the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of Uzbekistan, for their assistance in realizing this potential,” said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Uzbekistan Konstantin Obolensky.
