Suspect arrested in Tesla arson case in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A man has been arrested in Tashkent on suspicion of setting fire to a Tesla vehicle, according to the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs.
A video of the incident, showing an unidentified individual setting a parked car on fire, circulated on social media and sparked widespread discussion among users.
The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on 17 April in the Yalangach neighborhood of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district, at a local parking lot. A citizen identified as M.J., born in 1988, allegedly set fire to a Tesla owned by his acquaintance, N.K., born in 1983, following a personal conflict. M.J. was detained shortly afterward as a result of swift police action.
The Investigative Department of the Mirzo-Ulugbek District has opened a criminal case under Article 173 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Destruction or Damage to Property).
An investigation is currently underway.
