Sunview Group to build solar power plant in Ferghana region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Malaysian company Sunview Group plans to build a 200 MW solar power plant in Ferghana region. This was reported by the press service of the Ferghana regional administration.

Ferghana region governor Khayrullo Bozorov met with representatives of Sunview Group to discuss the implementation of the renewable energy project.

The project’s initiation was announced during Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov’s visit to Uzbekistan in July this year.

The project’s cost is estimated at US$150 million. It will be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP). The Ministry of Energy and Sunview Group have agreed on the project details in the field of green energy and the tariffs for the generated electricity.

Sunview Group has been granted a land plot in the Ferghana district to develop the technical and economic feasibility study (TEFS) for the investment project. Construction of the solar power plant is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024 (October-December).

Additionally, Sunview Group has proposed installing solar panels in the homes of needy families on a sponsorship basis. The company has also initiated inter-university cooperation projects and plans to open regional offices in Uzbekistan and Malaysia
