Subscribers’ base of Ucell grows by 1.782m people in 3Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Subscribers’ base of mobile communication operator Ucell grew by 1.782 million people in the third quarter of 2012 compared to the second quarter of 2012.

The financial report of TeliaSonera said that number of subscribers grew from 7.767 million in the second quarter of 2012 to 9.549 million in the third quarter of 2012. The growth rate made up 22.94%.

Net sales of Ucell rose by 27.8% year-on-year in January-September 2012 and made up 1.62 billion Sweden kronor (about US$245.838 million).

In the third quarter, net sales of the company made up 684 million Sweden kronor (about US$103.763 million), which grew by 50% year-on-year.

According to the company, MOU (average monthly minutes of usage per subscriber) grew from 267 minutes per month in January-September 2011 to 293 minutes per month in the first nine months of 2012.

As reported earlier, Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information suspended licenses of Uzdunrobita (MTS Uzbekistan trademark) in the mid of July 2012 for repeated and systematic violations, non-fulfillment of orders of regulator. In the end of July, Economic Court of Tashkent city prolonged suspension of licenses of MTS Uzbekistan for three months and annulled licenses in the mid of August 2012. About 9 million subscribers of MTS Uzbekistan had to subscribe to other operators.
