Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A hundred days remain until this year’s Style.Uz Art Week, a far-reaching mega project that is expected to plunge Tashkent into cultural frenzy for six days with a dizzying variety of events.

Scheduled for 4-9 October 2012, the Week promises to be as exciting and memorable as previous editions as it offers a rich art menu. One of the highlights of the upcoming Week is the 6th Tashkent International Photo Biennale.

Other major events include the 3rd International Theatre Festival “Theatre.Uz”, Tashkent International Cinema Forum “Golden Guepard” as well as exhibitions, catwalk shows, charity concerts, social events, workshops, conferences and many more.

Every year Style.Uz Art Week includes a major international exhibition that brings together prominent artists from many countries. Last year it was Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art during which over 100 artists from Uzbekistan and 50 artists from twenty-five countries presented over 1,500 pieces. This time as many creations will be showcased under a Photo Biennale.

Photo Biennale will be held in Tashkent and Samarkand. The Biennale is organized by Fund Forum and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

Fund Forum and the Academy of Arts invite photo artists working in various genres and styles as well as representatives of photography communities and organizations to submit works for the upcoming 6th Tashkent International Photo to be held as part of Style.Uz.

Artists whose works will be selected will receive participant certificates. The winners of the Photo Biennale will be honored with prizes. The jury will include local and international experts on photo art.

Both single and series of photos may be submitted (up to 10 works per series). The entries must be consistent with the theme of the Biennale and be united in content. The maximum number of works to be submitted by one artist is 5. A series of photos will be considered one entry. Curatorial projects will also be considered: at least 3 projects, each of which may consist of 10 works by various artists. The jury reserves the right to decrease the series is some of the photos do not meet the standards of the series.

The Photo Biennale is open to international participants. An artist willing to participate will have to cover airfare. Hotel accommodation (October 3 to 10, 2012), food, a tour of the city and a one-day trip to the city of Samarkand will be covered by the organizers.
