Students of Uzbekistan to travel to Qatar to participate in the educational project Seeds for the Future

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 30 August 2023, an annual educational project of Huawei "Seeds for the Future" for students of Uzbekistan was launched. 

With the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, 15 students from 7 universities of Uzbekistan will go to Qatar in September this year to study in IT areas together with project participants from 15 countries of the Middle East and Central Asia.

The Ministry of Digital Technology hosted the launch ceremony of the educational project "Seeds for the Future", which is part of Huawei’s corporate social initiative to support talents around the world. Uzbekistan students for the ninth time will team up with participants from other countries to improve their digital skills, share knowledge, raise awareness of the ICT sector and develop a digital community of young talents. This year, together with students from Uzbekistan in the city of Doha (Qatar), 175 students from universities from 15 countries of the Middle East and Central Asia, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Oman, Jordan will take part in the project , Lebanon, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan.

In order to support the project participants before the trip to Doha, the project launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, the leadership and teaching staff of local universities with IT areas, representatives of Huawei, as well as one of the TOP-10 global Ambassadors of the Seeds for the Future project, Inha University graduate Nodira Tillaeva.

The start of applying for participation in the project was given in June of this year for students of 11 universities of Uzbekistan. According to the selection results, 15 students passed the final interviews with the best results. The participants of the program were senior students of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies, Inha University in Tashkent, Amity University in Tashkent, Tashkent University of International Education, Kimyo International University in Tashkent, Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, as well as students of the University New Uzbekistan joined the project for the first time.

“After three years of running the Seeds for the Future program in a hybrid format locally in Uzbekistan, the project once again provides an opportunity for local talent to improve their ICT knowledge by combining education with travel abroad. By jointly creating an open ecosystem of ICT talent in Uzbekistan and in the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia, with the support of regulators and higher educational institutions, we aim to inspire young people to explore in depth the possibilities of the digital world. We congratulate the participants of the 2023 program and wish to get the most out of the educational process and cultural exchange with participants from other countries,” said Mr. Chen Jiakai, Director of Huawei in Uzbekistan.

During the Seeds for the Future program from 2 to 9 September 2023, participants will also develop their own Tech4Good project for submission to the regional competition. The aim of the competition is to involve young people in creating positive changes in their communities through the use of digital solutions to achieve the sustainable development goals (UN SDGs). In case of successful submission of the Tech4Good project to the judges, the participants will have a chance to proceed to the second stage, which will be held in Dubai, UAE, from 10 to 16 September 2023. According to the results of the accelerator program, Tech4Good winners will be eligible to participate in the final global competition in China.

"Seeds for the Future" is Huawei’s Fagman global corporate social responsibility education program. Since its launch in 2008, over 15,000 students from 139 countries have taken part in the program. In previous years, 50 students from Uzbekistan took courses on the program in China, and 82 students took part in the online version of the program in 2020-2022. In 2017, 4 participants of the "Seeds for the Future" project from Uzbekistan took part in the international summit "One Belt, One Road" in Beijing.
