Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan with Deputy Minister Akhadbek Khaydarov and representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Senior Economist Amanda Saieg.
The meeting discussed preliminary directions for the development of the "Strategy for Improving Public Financial Management in Uzbekistan for 2025-2030."
The structure of the action plan for reforming the public financial management system for the upcoming period and the project structure of the strategy were reviewed.
It was noted that the new strategy will be developed based on a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of measures outlined in the "Strategy for Improving Public Financial Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2024," as well as recommendations from international experts.
Priority reforms include revising the budget calendar, continuing the digitalization of the budget process, defining the next stages of programmatic, environmental, and gender budgeting reforms, improving internal audit, and aligning accounting practices with international standards (IFRS).
Following the meeting, it was agreed to conduct further consultations with the ministry’s sectoral divisions, as well as with other ministries and agencies, to ensure the timely development and approval of the strategy project.
The IMF mission will continue its work on the strategy until 22 July.
