Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – As of 1 July 2024, there are 62,300 industrial enterprises operating in Uzbekistan. Of these, 10,900 (17.5% of all active enterprises) are located in Tashkent City, 6,600 (10.6%) in Ferghana Region, 6,400 (10.3%) in Tashkent Region, 5,200 (8.4%) in Samarkand Region, and 5,200 (8.3%) in Andijan Region.
According to preliminary data from the State Statistics Agency, from January to June 2024, industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan produced goods worth 370 trillion soums, with the physical volume index of industrial production increasing by 7.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
Analysis of per capita industrial production from January to June 2024 revealed a significant exceedance of the national average (10 million soums) in Navoi Region (58.72 million soums), Tashkent City (22.54 million soums), and Tashkent Region (19,55 million soums).
In terms of production structure, the largest share belongs to manufacturing industries (83.2%), with a production volume of 307.8 trillion soums.
For January-June 2024, the largest shares of total industrial production were accounted for by Tashkent City (18.6%), Navoi Region (17.1%), Tashkent Region (16.2%), Andijan Region (10.0%), Ferghana Region (5.2%), and Samarkand Region (5.0%).
Compared to the same period in 2023, average industrial production indicators across the republic have increased, particularly in Andijan Region (113.7%), Tashkent City (109.6%), Navoi Region (109.4%), and Namangan Region (109.8%).
Manufacturing industries produced goods worth 307.8 trillion soums, or 83.2% of the total industrial output.
In the manufacturing sector, the share of high-tech industries was 1.3% (unchanged from January-June 2023), medium-high-tech industries at 23.1% (down from 23.7%), medium-low-tech industries at 38.4% (up from 37.5%), and low-tech industries at 37.2% (unchanged from 37.5%).
Within the manufacturing sector, the share of enterprises involved in the production, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment, production of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers, and other finished metal products was 20.6% (physical volume index at 109.1% compared to January-June 2023), metallurgical industry 25.0% (physical volume index at 108.0%), and textile products, clothing, and leather goods 17.3% (physical volume index at 110.6%).
The share of food, beverage, and tobacco products production was 16.2% (physical volume index at 104.0%), while chemical products, rubber, and plastic products accounted for 7.7% (physical volume index at 109.7%).
From January to June 2024, the production volumes included 674.5 thousand tons of automobile gasoline (up 3.6% compared to 2023), 328.5 thousand tons of cotton yarn (up 13.8%), 115.6 million liters of beer (down 0.4%), and 455.1 thousand tons of wheat and spelt flour (down 17.0%).
Major enterprises produced 1,532 trucks (up 39.1% compared to the same period in 2023) and 375 buses (down 2.1%).
In the automotive industry, from January to June 2024, 72,948 Cobalt cars were produced (up 47.5%), 4,160 Chery (down 0.1%), 9,270 KIA (up 21.6%), 12,635 Gentra (down 65.9%), 38,953 Damas (up 11.5%), 12,804 specialized passenger cars (up 10.8%), 21,497 Tracker (up 42.6%), 17,432 Onix (up 55.3%), 95 Exeed, and 542 Haval.
From January to June 2024, major enterprises produced 125,200 automobile engines (an increase of 18.6% compared to the same period in 2023).
In the machinery sector, major enterprises produced 475,500 lead-acid batteries for internal combustion engines (data not compared to 2023).
For the same period, 235,800 refrigerators and freezers were produced (a decrease of 31.2%).
Capital repairs of technological equipment allowed for increased capacity utilization in chemical enterprises, exceeding last year’s production figures for sodium carbonate (117.2% compared to January-June 2023) and potassium chloride (107.1%).
The share of the metallurgical industry in the manufacturing sector reached 25.0%, with a physical volume index increase of 8.0% and a production volume of 76,897.7 billion soums.
The share of other non-metallic mineral products in the manufacturing sector was 4.7%, with a physical volume index increase of 18.3% and a production volume of 14,447.1 billion soums.
The share of food production in the manufacturing sector was 12.5%, with a physical volume index of 102.5% and a total production volume of 38,494.6 billion soums.
The share of beverage production was 3.1%, with a physical volume index of 104.9% and a production volume of 9,403.1 billion soums.
The share of textile products in the manufacturing sector was 12.5%, with a physical volume index increase of 10.1% and a production volume of 38,553.6 billion soums.
The share of clothing production was 4.2%, with a physical volume index increase of 12.3% and a production volume of 13,065.6 billion soums.
The share of chemical products was 5.6%, with a physical volume index increase of 5.0% and a production volume of 17,312.3 billion soums.
The share of coke and petroleum products was 4.0%, with a physical volume index increase of 4.1% and a production volume of 12,439.2 billion soums.
The share of rubber and plastic products was 2.1%, with a physical volume index of 129.7% and a production volume of 6,528.6 billion soums.
The share of electrical equipment was 3.0%, with a physical volume index of 102.4% and a production volume of 9,257.8 billion soums.
The share of finished metal products was 1.8%, with a physical volume index of 81.8% and a production volume of 5,425.3 billion soums.
The share of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers was 13.1%, with a physical volume index of 115.0% and a production volume of 40,303.8 billion soums.
Compared to the same period in 2023, electricity production was at 96.7% and thermal energy at 94.9%.
Water supply, sewage, waste collection, and disposal services amounted to 2.0 trillion soums (0.6% of total industrial output) in January-June 2024.

Services for the removal, transportation, and treatment of wastewater, as well as the emptying, cleaning, and treatment of cesspits, tanks, and septic systems, have seen a 5.8% decrease in textile waste production, a 1.7-fold increase in wastewater services, and a 2.1% increase in cesspit services.
In January-June 2024, small enterprises produced goods worth 103.7 trillion soums, accounting for 28.0% of total production. In the same period in 2023, the share of small businesses was 26.0%.
The development of the republic’s industrial production was also supported by the implementation of the Program for the Localization of Finished Products, Components, and Materials, under which 2,049 projects produced goods worth 48.8 trillion soums, with localized products exported worth 487.8 million USD, creating 7,877 new jobs.
