State Tax Committee holds seminar on tax policy for 2014
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan will hold a seminar on main directions of tax policy for 2014 on 13-17 January 2014.

The seminar is organized in connection with adoption of the presidential resolution “On forecasts of main macroeconomic figures and parameters of the State Budget of Uzbekistan for 2014” from 25 December 2013.

According to the press service of the committee, the seminar is taking place at UzExpoCenter in Tashkent. Heads and accountants of the enterprises and organizations will participate in the event.

The seminar will provide full information on changes and amendments, introduced to the tax legislation of Uzbekistan.

Above-mentioned resolution decreased the lowest scale of income tax for individuals from 8% to 7.5%. The tax rates for individual businesses were almost kept at the level of 2013. The rate of fixed tax for individuals, engaged with retail trade of newspaper, magazines and book products in rural areas, was decreased from two sizes of minimal salary to 0.5 size of minimal salary. At the same time, the rate of fixed tax is determined based on minimal size of salary, set as of 1 January 2014 (96,105 soums) and will not be changed within 2014.

The resolution also introduced changes to the order of renting property by individuals. The minimal rate of renting price was set.

In particular, the minimal renting fee for Tashkent was set at 3,000 soums per square meters, in Nukus and other cities – 2,000 soums and other settlements – 1,000 soums.

The Government also introduced the minimal size of the renting fee: for Tashkent city – 6,000 soums per square meter, Nukus and other cities – 4,000 soums and other settlements – 2,000 soums.

Uzbekistan also introduced rent fee for automobiles (automobiles for transportation of passengers, luggage and with not more than 8 seats, excluding driver’s seat). The fee is 220,000 soums per car a month, micro-buses, buses and trucks – 430,000 per vehicle a month.

The government also decreased income tax for individuals from 9% to 8%. The single tax for small and microfirms were kept at the same level as in 2013. The Government also abolished annual re-assessment of fixed assets for small and micro firms. Now they can re-assess their fixed assets once in three years.

The document also sets other tax rates for businesses.
