Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Security Service of Uzbekistan announced the arrest of officials in Asaka district of Andijan region on suspicion of fraud and taking bribes.

A former employee of the investigative department of the Asaka District Department of Internal Affairs, who received US$15,000 from the head of a construction company, was detained. According to the investigation, he promised to change the preventive measure and reduce the amount of damage that was revealed during the investigation.

A criminal case has been opened against the former investigator under articles of fraud and complicity in giving a bribe.

The second case is related to the head of the agricultural department of the Asaka region, who, on behalf of the deputy khokim of the region for agriculture, planned to sell a land plot. The buyer was required to pay US$40,000 to change the category of the plot. Both officials were detained while accepting a bribe.

The deputy khokim of the district for agriculture has also been involved in the criminal case.
