Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- The State Security Service of Uzbekistan has taken action to detain two court employees on suspicion of corruption, the press service of the State Security Service said in a statement.

During a special operation in Tashkent, a senior consultant of the criminal division of the Supreme Court was arrested while accepting a bribe of US$10,000.

According to preliminary investigation data, this judicial officer offered assistance in justifying two previously convicted individuals by transferring their criminal cases in cassation from the Supreme Court to the Ferghana Regional Court.

In another case, a senior assistant judge of the judicial collegium of the Surkhandarya Regional Economic Court used his influence to receive US$6,000 from a local entrepreneur in exchange for a favorable decision on his cases at the appellate stage.

The investigation revealed that the senior assistant judge also demanded US$2,000 and received US$600 for a positive decision on the lawsuit filed by the entrepreneur in the Termez Interdistrict Economic Court.

Criminal cases under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code have been initiated against both judicial officials. Restrictive measures, including detention, have been applied against these individuals.
