State Demonopolization Committee sums up results of 9m
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization and Development of Competition summed up the results of its activities in nine months of 2012.

The committee said that its activities focused on adopting effective measures on supporting enterprises of real sector of economy, revealing and eliminating insolvent enterprises, realizing them to commercial banks, decreasing level of monopolization, etc.

It added that the committee continued its work on improving legislation on anti-monopoly regulation and prepared conclusions on 158 draft legislative acts.

In nine months of 2012, the committee conducted work on financial support and increasing production, modernization and re-equipment at 1,644 enterprises. It was planned to attract over 1.9 trillion soums of investment, of which 1.3 trillion soums were resources of commercial banks. As of 1 October 2012, the investments for 1.879 trillion soums were attracted and 1.26 trillion soums were loans of banks. In the result, some 31,000 new jobs were created.

Adopted measures directed at supporting development of competition helped to cut number of monopoly of enterprises by 24% compared to the beginning of 2012.

Specialists of the State Demonopolization Committee participated at 1,593 sessions of tender commissions to ensure competition in public procurement.

The committee said it monitors placement of strategic and monopoly products, raw materials to exchange trades. It also considered 226 applications on localization of 915 products.

The committee added that it helped consumers to protect their rights and in the result 625 million soums were returned to consumers.
