State Demonopolization Committee sums up 2010 results
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization and Development of Competition summed up results of its activity in 2010.

At the meeting of the Board, it was noted that adopted measures to implement important priorities of the programme on social-economic development of Uzbekistan, including program measures on modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of industries of economy helped to ensure sustainable high growth and macroeconomic balance of Uzbekistan’s economy in 2010.

At the same time, the meeting noted that the State Demonopolization Committee carried out targeted measures to implement measures of Anti-crisis programme on preventing and overcoming consequences of global economic crisis for 2009-2012.

In the reporting period, the committee continued work on liquidating economic involvement enterprises and realization of their property to investors, including under investment obligations.

The committee in cooperation with owners developed measures on financial rehabilitation and restoration of production capacities at 814 enterprises, in the result about 81% recorded production and sales growth. About 8% of enterprises are conducting work on reconstruction, re-equipment and modernization. Some 19,000 jobs were created in the result.

To assess development of competition in the market, the committee conducted studies at 138 goods markets (including 74 service markets), as well as analyzed markets on 137 types of localized products to level of monopolization of development of competition environment, saturation of goods markets.

In line with the decision of the committee, monopoly goods for 50.6 billion soums were put for sale through exchanged. The committee also adopted decision to put for sale 4 types of monopoly products.

The State Demonopolization Committee said that it revealed 677 various violations of antimonopoly legislation and law on natural monopolies. In the result, some 29.5 billion soums were levied from violators, of which 6.2 billion soums were transferred to consumers.

The committee also said that it also revealed violation of legislation on protecting human rights and advertisement. In the result, consumers received compensations for 479.8 million soums and it issued 949 orders to eliminate violations.

At the meeting of the Board, the committee determined mechanisms on implementation of priority tasks. The activities of territorial bodies were criticized for shortcomings.
