State Demonopolization Committee holds meeting to sum up 1H 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization and Competition Development held a session with participation of territorial bodies dedicated to the first half of 2010 and upcoming tasks on ensuring implementation of important priorities on deepening economic reforms in 2010, reforming anti-monopoly reforming, developing competitive environment and preventing unfounded price growth.

It was noted that the State Demonopolization Committee focused its activity on restructuring bankrupt and insolvent enterprises, deepening reforms in communal sphere, creating healthy competition, controlling adherence of antimonopoly legislation and natural monopoly legislation, as well as legislation on protection of consumer rights and advertisement.

Adopted measures on restructuring and financial rehabilitation helped to improve operations and financial activity at 601 enterprises. About 121 enterprises increased average monthly production volume twice. About 26 new enterprises were created based on unused production capacities, of which 23 enterprises already started production. They manufactured goods for 5.2 billion soums.

The committee said that the bankruptcy procedure was launched against 72 insolvent enterprises, of which 20 were rehabilitated and 43 were liquidated, while supervision process was introduced at 9 enterprises.

The committee conducted research of over 89 good markets, including 39 service markets. The committee analyzed markets on 137 localized products on monopolization level and development of competition environment, etc.

In the result of implementation of requirnments of anti-monopoly law and natural monopoly law, the committee helped consumers to return 609.9 million soums and levied 6.6 billion soums to State Budget in the result of inspections. The committee opened 295 cases and issued 270 orders in the reporting period.

In last three years, the number of monopoly products, which are traded through exchange, rose from 136 goods to 219. The committee revised over 126,000 decisions, as well as 41,500 written decisions, and orders of the state bodies in places and revealed 161 cases of anti-monopoly legislation violations.

In order to increase efficiency on protection of consumer rights, including preventing unfounded growth of prices to important goods and regulation of advertisement market, the committee carried out 2,711 monitorinfs and revealed 1,111 violations of legislation on consumers’ rights protection and advertisement legislation for total sum of 316.9 million soums. The consumers received compensations for 192.3 million soums on these cases.

During the meeting, the participants discussed priority tasks of the committee and its territorial bodies for the second half of 2010.
