Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In recent years, drastic measures have been taken in Uzbekistan to support and organize tourist trips for people with disabilities.
According to the Society of Disabled Persons of Uzbekistan, in 2019, as of January 1, the number of persons with disabilities in the republic was 709,000.
In accordance with the Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept of development of tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2025, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as in accordance with the resolution "On measures to ensure the accelerated development of domestic tourism” defines the objectives of the development of public tourism for persons with disabilities (persons with disabilities).
As practice shows, in Uzbekistan today there is no unified system of financial support for travel of persons with disabilities in this direction.
According to the analysis, practically all over the world, large-scale practical work is being carried out to organize tourism for persons with disabilities and create the necessary conditions for their stay, for example, in European countries, including Germany, Spain, Great Britain and France, specialized Internet portals, tour operators have been created and tour packages for persons with disabilities.
A. Akkulov, acting Chairman of the State Committee on Tourism, said that the main tasks for implementing these measures are: increasing the social activity of persons with disabilities and their knowledge about the regions, facilitating the creation of appropriate local conditions for this category of people in the tourism infrastructure, and attracting citizens of our country and compatriots abroad to this kind of tourism.
At this stage, the State Committee for the Development of Tourism is developing a social project “Travel for All”, aimed at the development of social tourism.
Within the project, in order to attract public charitable funds, the account number of the State Unitary Enterprise “Tourist Service Center” attached to the State Committee for Tourism will be opened and published in the media. Charitable funds received into the account will be distributed as follows:
About 50% - on the organization of trips for persons with disabilities, 25% - on the adaptation of the infrastructure of tourism in places for persons with disabilities, and 25% - on social support for persons with disabilities (business, wheelchairs and other special equipment).
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Development of Tourism also invites interested organizations and departments to join this charitable project to create favorable conditions for the development of social tourism in Uzbekistan.
