State Agency: the number of enterprises and organizations operating in Uzbekistan is 492,600 units

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 December 2023, the number of enterprises and organizations operating in the republic (excluding dekhkan farms and farms) is 492,600 units, of which 424,700 units. – small enterprises and microfirms.

Also during this period, 686,500 units were registered. enterprises and organizations, and the growth rate, compared to the same period last year, amounted to 10.2%.

In particular, as of 1 January 2023, the total number of business entities operating in Uzbekistan (excluding farms and dekhkan farms) amounted to 527,200, of which 238,600 have been operating for three years, 118 for five years, 8,000, ten years – 86,700, more than ten years – 83,000.

By region, the largest share of existing business entities operating for over ten years (compared to the total number) falls on Syrdarya (18.2%), Andijan (18.0%), Ferghana (17.4%), Kashkadarya ( 17.1%) region and Tashkent city (17.4%).

In January-November of this year, the number of newly created enterprises and organizations in the republic amounted to 83,500.

Regionally, a significant increase in the number of newly created enterprises and organizations, compared to the corresponding period last year, is observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (by 1,913 units), Bukhara region (by 1,174 units) and Tashkent city (by 1,230 units). In terms of industries, the highest level was demonstrated by the transportation and storage industries - by 648 units. and information and communications - by 323 units.

As of 1 December 2023, the number of operating enterprises and organizations amounted to 492,600. When compared with the same period in 2019, the growth rate was 24.4%.

A significant share of enterprises when distributed by type of economic activity (share in the total number) falls on trade - 32.6%, industry - 14.4%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 7.9%, construction - 7.2% , and in a regional context - for the city of Tashkent - 20.2%, Tashkent - 9.3%, Samarkand - 9.0%, Ferghana - 8.8% and Kashkadarya - 7.0% regions.

As a result of measures implemented by the state to create favorable conditions for business entities, their investment climate is improving from year to year and business is expanding. The number of newly created business entities in January-November 2023 amounted to 81,323 units, of which: 80,973 were micro-firms and small enterprises; 350 – large enterprises.

As of 1 December 2023, the number of active business entities reached 428.4 thousand. When compared with the same period in 2019, the growth rate was 127.9%.

Their distribution by type of economic activity (share in the total) was as follows: trade - 37.5%, industry - 16.6%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 9.0%, construction - 8.2%, accommodation and food services - 6.7%, transportation and storage - 4.2%, information and communications - 2.4%, healthcare and social services - 2.2%, other types - 13.2%.

An important factor for assessing the “health” of a country’s economy is the effective functioning of small businesses, which is an indicator of flexibility and the ability to adapt to a constantly changing economic situation.

Thus, in January-November 2023, the number of newly created small businesses compared to the corresponding period in 2022 increased in the transportation and storage industry from 3,108 to 3,755 units. (increase by 647 units), information and communications from 2,410 to 2,742 units. (increase by 332 units).

Regionally, the largest number of small businesses operate in the city of Tashkent (20.7%), Tashkent (9.3%), Samarkand (9.0%), Ferghana (8.7%) and Kashkadarya (6.9 %) areas. In these regions, over 50% of small businesses are recorded from their total number.

Meanwhile, it is known that small businesses are actively operating in almost all sectors of the economy.

The Republic of Uzbekistan is consistently implementing a deeply thought-out strategy for the development of agriculture, aimed at ensuring the country’s food security. One of the main components of the economic and social reforms of our country is aimed at growing vegetables and fruits. This approach has become one of the most important directions in fully satisfying the needs of the population, preserving their health and creating employment conditions.

The industrial sector has the greatest potential among other sectors of the economy.

Based on the total number of enterprises and organizations, the number of industrial enterprises amounted to 14.4%, of which 94.3% belong to the manufacturing industry, 3.5% to the mining industry and quarrying, 1.5% to water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal, 0.7% - electricity supply, gas, steam and air conditioning.

In Uzbekistan, the construction industry is identified as a priority sector of the economy.

The analysis carried out by section in the construction industry showed that:

- the share of enterprises in the construction of buildings and structures section reached 54.2%;

- the share of enterprises in the specialized construction work section was 30.4%;

- the share of enterprises in the construction of civil facilities section was fixed at 15.4%.

The analysis showed that every third operating enterprise in the republic operates in the trade sector, of which 99.5%, or 159.8 thousand, are small businesses.

The distribution by section in the trade sector is as follows:

-the share of retail trade enterprises, except for the trade in cars and motorcycles, reached 60.3%;

-the share of wholesale trade enterprises, except for trade in cars and motorcycles, was fixed at 30.6%;

-the share of enterprises in the wholesale and retail trade of cars and motorcycles and their repair was 9.1%.

As of 1 December 2023, the growth rate of the number of operating enterprises and organizations in the accommodation and food services industry, compared to the same period in 2019, amounted to 13.0%.

Analysis by section in this service industry showed:

– hotels, tourist camps, recreation and entertainment parks represent the main activity in the accommodation services section and, as of 1 December 2023, the share of these enterprises and organizations amounted to 11.0% of the total number of operating enterprises and organizations in the accommodation services industry and nutrition;

– restaurants and services for the delivery of food and food to order, included in the section of services for the provision of food and beverages, amounted to 89.0%.

As of December 1, 2023, the number of enterprises and organizations involved in the development of publishing activities, the production of films, videos, television programs, phonograms and music recordings in the information and communications industry reached 20.8% of the total number of operating enterprises and organizations.

The number of enterprises producing programs, television and radio broadcasting and communications in the information and communications industry amounted to 25.1%.

The number of enterprises in the sections of computer programming and information services in the information and communications industry was 54.1%.

A significant part of the total number of enterprises and organizations operating in the healthcare and social services sector – 9,583 units. or 86.9%, falls on business entities.

Analysis by their sections showed that: 95.0% were enterprises in the field of healthcare; the number of residential care providers was 2.7%; the number of enterprises providing social services without providing accommodation in the healthcare and social services sector amounted to 2.3%.

As of December 1, 2023, the number of operating enterprises and organizations in the transportation and storage industry amounted to 3.7% of the total number of enterprises in the country.

Of the 428.4 thousand operating commercial enterprises and organizations, as of December 1, 2023, limited liability companies account for 310.7 thousand and occupy first place among enterprises in terms of their organizational and legal form. Based on this, we can come to the conclusion that these societies are the most common form of business activity in the country.

A significant share of enterprises when distributed by type of economic activity (share in the total number) falls on trade - 36.5%, industry - 15.2%, construction - 9.7%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 9.4% .

During January-November 2023, the number of newly created private enterprises in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, compared to the corresponding period in 2022, increased by 101 units, transportation and storage - by 77 units.

As of 1 December 2023, when comparing the number of operating enterprises by their organizational and legal form, private enterprises took second place after limited liability companies. The highest figures for their number were recorded in Tashkent - 8,289 units, Ferghana - 8,233 units. and Kashkadarya - 8,171 units. areas. By type of economic activity, private enterprises were distributed in the trade sector - 29,233 units, industry - 10,330 units, accommodation and food - 5,397 units, construction - 4,332 units.

A family enterprise is a small business entity voluntarily created by its participants on the basis of common property that is in shared or joint ownership of the participants of the family enterprise, as well as the property of each of the participants in the family enterprise for the production and sale of goods (work, services).

The activities of a family enterprise, which is one of the organizational and legal forms of business entities, are based on the personal labor of its participants.

The number of operating family enterprises that have undergone state registration as a legal entity, as of 1 December 2023, compared to the corresponding period in 2020, increased by 4,436 units.

This happened due to a significant increase in the number of enterprises in the following industries: trade from 11,841 to 17,445 units. (increase by 5,604 units), accommodation and food services from 7,116 to 7,731 units. (increase by 615 units).

Enterprises with foreign investments are considered to be enterprises in the authorized capital of which non-residents, foreign legal entities (branches and branches of foreign companies), foreign citizens and stateless persons participate.

As a result of active work to develop international economic cooperation, the number of enterprises with foreign investment in our country is increasing significantly.

Thus, in January-November 2023, the growth rate of the number of newly created enterprises and organizations with foreign investment, compared to the corresponding period in 2021, amounted to 13.1%.

The leading place is occupied by the Russian Federation - 2,889 enterprises with full or partial participation, which is 21.6% of the total number of operating enterprises with foreign investment in the republic. Among the countries pouring their capital into the economy of Uzbekistan, a special place is also occupied by China (15.9% of the total number of operating enterprises with foreign investment in the republic), Turkey (13.5%), Kazakhstan (7.4%) and South Korea (5.3%).

Uzbekistan is carrying out comprehensive economic and social reforms aimed at accelerating economic growth, expanding international relations and creating favorable legal conditions for foreign direct investment. The country’s strategic geographical location and rich and diverse natural resources present enormous potential for investment and growth. The government of the republic pays close attention to increasing foreign investment in order to stimulate business development and introduce modern technologies to improve the well-being of its citizens.

The main features of Uzbekistan’s new foreign policy are openness, attention to the priorities of long-term sustainable development, strengthening good neighborly relations with neighboring countries, and expanding international cooperation on an impartial basis.

As a result, it is noted that today consistent reforms are being implemented in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan aimed at stimulating the process of creating internal conditions necessary for conducting business and attracting investments.

Based on this, out of 13,353 units. operating enterprises with foreign investment 4,734 units. are joint, and 8,619 units. come from foreign enterprises.

Thus, as of 1 December 2023, the number of registered enterprises with foreign investment, compared to the same period last year, increased by 2,323 units. and reached 18,278 units.

The significant growth of business entities was expressed by an increase in the number of operating small businesses from 189.9 thousand as of January 1, 2014 to 523.6 thousand as of January 1, 2023.

Rapid development of the national economy and ensuring high growth rates are one of the most important priorities of the development strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.
