Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, the head of the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee, Suresh Subramanyam, visited the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

The guest of honor was met by the President of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov. During the meeting, both leaders held a conversation on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.

During the event, Rustama Shaabdurakhmanova was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan Herod Tulyaganova.

“I am glad that I was lucky to visit your country again. This is my first visit to the new building of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. Before the meeting, I familiarized myself with the activities of the committee and have already conceived several projects that can be implemented in Sri Lanka. Currently, large-scale work is underway in our country to develop the Olympic movement. To this end, coaches from China, Ukraine and Japan began to work in the national teams of Sri Lanka. Uzbekistan is one of the leading countries in several sports. I hope that bilateral cooperation will undoubtedly contribute to the development of both countries,” Suresh Subramanyam said.

In turn, Rustam Shaabdurahmonov talked about the progress of the preparation of national teams for the Tokyo Olympics.

“Thank you for your kind words. All this is the result of the attention of our Dear President, thanks to his initiatives, sports and physical education are developing so widely. Now our athletes are actively training based on our training plan. Nowadays, medicine, technology, methodology are developing at a fast pace and on this basis we are ready to cooperate and exchange experience. It would be advisable to sign this agreement in a memorandum. Our side supports the idea of cooperation,” Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov said.

During the conversation, the leaders discussed in detail all areas of cooperation and agreed on a further action plan.
