Spring Entrepreneurs School opens in Jizzakh region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Spring Entrepreneurs School started its work in Zomin recreation zone of Jizzakh region within the Programme on support of young entrepreneurs of the Kelajak Ovozi Center of Youth Initiative. Seven-day event will allow 50 young people to learn organizing own business.

The school is directed at attraction youth to small business, present information, training, methodical and dinancial aid to starting businesspersons. The project consists of four stages and it will completed with final conference and awarding ceremony.

Over 3,000 applications were submitted to the Summer School and only 600 of them were interviewed. The commission, consisting of banking specialists and businesses, evaluated participants on such criteria as competitiveness, business ideas, profitability of the project, as well as motivation of the participant. In the result, 50 young boys and girls were selected to the school.

During the school, the participants will undergo training on special programme. The participants will be divided into two groups, which will compete each other during the training. They will receive experience of work individually and in team.

Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, British Council in Uzbekistan, National Association of Microcredit Organizations and Credit Unions, Microcreditbank and other partner organizations are invited as trainers.

The experts will consider business projects of the participants and the best of them will receive grants and recommendations for loans. The successful participants will have chance to internship abroad.

The first stage of the project – Winter Entrepreneurs School – was held in February 2010. Over 2,000 young people applied to the programme and 50 of them participated in the project. During a week, they learnt doing business, business psychology, project development, etc. About 30 of them received recommendations on preferential loans (3-7% APR).

Currently, 70% of Winter Entrepreneurs School (20 people) registered their businesses and 50% (15 people) received soft loans.
