Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the invitation of SOCAR (Azerbaijan), a working group of specialists from Uzbekneftegaz headed by the Advisor to the Chairman of the Board on HSE, ESG and sustainable development was sent to Baku. The working visit was organized in accordance with the Roadmap, signed on 5 July 2022, developed in order to expand cooperation in the field of oil and gas between Uzbekneftegaz and SOCAR.

The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the implemented projects in the field of reducing CO2 emissions, waste from drilling and oil sludge, as well as treatment of formation water.

On the first day of the visit, a meeting of the working group of Uzbekneftegaz with SOCAR Vice President for Ecology, Rafiga Huseynzade, was organized. The program of visits to production facilities, as well as certification and trading of emissions within the framework of the European Emission Trading System was discussed.

They also visited the Waste Management Center and studied the work of the German Econ plant for cleaning waste drilling mud and extracting expensive lubricating oils.

In addition, we looked at decanter and tricanter installations designed to extract oil products from a solid mass of drill cuttings.

During the visit, they visited the Eco-Park, built on the territory of the former oil field named after Tagiev. This Eco-Park demonstrates the possibility of restoring oil-contaminated soil through intensive tree planting and constant maintenance.

Following the results of the official visit, the specialists of Uzbekneftegaz JSC agreed on further cooperation with SOCAR in the studied areas.
