Spanish chemical concern Maxamcorp S.A. acquired 49% shares of Elektrokhimprom OJSC, the second largest producer of nitric fertilizers in Uzbekistan, Chastnaya Sobstvennost newspaper of the Uzbek State Property Committee reported.
The report did not elaborated on the cost of the deal and other details.
The Uzbek State Property Committee announced tender on sale of 49% stake of Elektrokhimprom with starting price of US$21.63 million.
Elektrokhimprom located in Chirchik city of Tashkent region and it produces liquid ammonia, ammonium nitrate, nitric acid, carbamide and other products.
Uzbekistan plans to sell stakes in 10 largest chemical plants in near future. The country re-announced tenders on sale of 49% shares in Ammophos and Navoiazot.
