Economy21/02/2008Spain’s MAXAM acquires 49% stake in Uzbekistan’s Ammofos
MAXAM won an international tender for the sale of the state’s stake in the company called by the Uzbek State Property Committee in April 2007. The source declined to say how much the Spanish company paid for Ammofos, however he said "the price was very close to the starting price of US$17.164 million."
MAXAM acquired a 49% stake in Uzbekistan’s Elektrokhimprom for US$22 million in May 2007. MAXAM won an international tender for the sale of the state’s stake in the company with a starting price of US$21.63 million.
Ammofos produces more than 338,000 tonnes of ammophos a year, 500,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid and 417,000 tonnes of extracted phosphoric acid.
The company has charter capital of US$15.198 million. The government owns a 51% stake in Ammofos.
