The sides could not score any goal after 90 minutes and additional period was needed to separate the two sides. Barcelona midfielder Andreas Iniesta opened the score in the 116th minute to give a lead and later victory to Spain.

Uruguay’s Diego Forlan won the best player of the tournament award after lighting up the World Cup with some wonderful goals. Tomas Muller received award for the best young player.

German youngster also received Golden Boot. He scored five goals in the tournament as Forlan, Sniejder and Villa, but played less minutes compared to them. FIFA also awarded Fair Play award for Spain.
