South Korean group wins grand prize of Sharq Taronalari
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 August 2011, the final chord of the VIII International Music Festival "Sharq taronalari" sounded in Samarkand city’s Registan square.

In line with the decision of jury, "Park Jong-Wook Park and Zhonguk" (South Korea) won the Grand Prize of the festival.

"Dunhuang nude vords" (China) and "Aysva" (Lithuania) claimed the first place. "Leader" (Russia), "Sato" (Uzbekistan) and "Ovoi mehriboni" (Iran) won the second place.

"Talilema" (Madagascar), "Chvenburebi" (Georgia) and "Galkinish" (Turkmenistan) shared third place of the VIII International Music Festival "Sharq taronalari".

Special awards UNESCO went to Ilyas Arabs of Uzbekistan, Jivan Gasparyan of Armenia and Nazeket Teymurova of Azerbaijan.

Prize "For contributions to the development of national art" was awarded to "Hook Mongol" (Mongolia) and "Dror" (Israel). "Vars brozers" (India) get Prize for "Bright Performance".

Japan’s "Hidden Draga" won the Audience Award. The prize from Samarkand hokimiyat in the category "Samarkand" awarded to Force Institute of Art (Afghanistan) and the prize from the regional administration in the category "Registan" – Khurshed Ibragimov (Tajikistan).

Special Prize of the Jury was given to group “Bog Aro” from Uzbekistan.

The festival ended with a grand gala concert on the stage of Registan, which were made by the nominees and winners from around the world.

With their performances, they have once again demonstrated a wide range of traditional and musical culture of the peoples of the world. Universal jubilation and delight in the heart of the ancient Samarkand embody the very essence of the festival "Sharq taronalari" planed to unite all peoples and nations around the spiritual richness and heritage of Uzbekistan.
