Some 73 turbines were installed at 2 wind power plants under construction in Bukhara region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- ACWA Power from Saudi Arabia is implementing projects for the construction of 2 wind power plants with a capacity of 500 MW each (total 1000 MW) in Peshku and Gijduvan districts of Bukhara region. This was reported by the Information Service of the Ministry of Energy.

As part of this project, wind turbines from Envision (China) with a capacity of 6.5 MW each are being installed. To date, 73 turbines have been installed with a total capacity of 474.5 MW.

The height of each turbine tower is 100 meters, and the length of each blade is 84 meters.

A total of 158 of the same wind turbines will be installed within the framework of this project.

The first 400 MW of capacity of these power plants will be commissioned by the end of 2024.

As a result of the full commissioning of wind power plants, 3 billion 600 million kWh of electricity will be produced per year.

This will allow saving 1 billion 100 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and preventing emissions of 1 million 500 thousand tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

In addition, within the framework of the project, 260 km of overhead power lines with a voltage of 500 kV and 2 open switchgears of 500 kV will be built.

It should be noted that these power transmission networks will improve the reliability of connections between the northwestern (Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region) and southwestern (Bukhara and Navoi regions) parts of the energy system of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

A wind power plant with a capacity of 500 MW is being built in Tomdi district of Navoi region, its first capacities, commissioned in December 2023, produce “green” energy.
