In the reporting period, small business entities produced 50.5% of the total volume of GDP of Uzbekistan, which is 2 percentage points more than in January-September 2010, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. The share of small enterprises and microfirms in GDP production was 27.9% in January-September 2011 versus 27.4% in January-September 2010.

In January-September of the current year small business entities provided employment to 8.829 million persons (74.2% of total persons employed in the economy), including 6.393 million persons of the individual sector and 2.436 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms.

The number of persons engaged in the private sector of small business was 8.070 million or 91.4% of total employment in the sphere of small business.

Small businesses produced industrial output to the amount of 6.2 trillion soums (20.7% of total industrial production), which grew by 26.5% year-on-year.

The sector utilized 3.687 trillion soums of investments (30.2% of total utilized investments), which increased by 18.5% year-on-year.

Small businesses executed construction works to the amount of 4.681 trillion soums (70.4% of total construction works). The growth rate reached 41.6% year-on-year.

This sector ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 6.9% (76.5% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover by 9.3% (84.9% of total passenger turnover).

The small sector formed 48% (9.528 trillion soums) of total retail trade turnover (+12.3%) and 44.6% (3.274 trillion soums) of total paid services (+12.5%);

Small enterprises exported goods for US$1.834 billion (16.2% of total exports), which grew by58.9% year-on-year and imported goods for US$2.827 billion (37.6% of total imports), which rose by 24.1% year-on-year.
