Some 12,000 pilgrims from Uzbekistan are in Saudi Arabia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation with Mufti and Chairman of the Muslim Board, Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiknazar.

The head of state inquired about the preparations for the holy pilgrimage of Hajj, the conditions created for the pilgrims, their health, and their overall mood.

Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiknazar conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the pilgrims in the holy places to the President.

It was noted that this year’s Hajj events are well-organized and running smoothly. The regional Hajj centers are functioning efficiently. With the support of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Committee on Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Health, and other organizations, all necessary conditions have been created for the pilgrims.

Currently, about 12,000 citizens of Uzbekistan are in Saudi Arabia. In total, 15,130 citizens will be able to perform the pilgrimage. They are accompanied by 300 group leaders, 50 top-tier doctors, chefs, translators, and other assistants.

These efforts have been highly appreciated by the Saudi authorities, who expressed their respect and gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan.

A new initiative this year is the organization of "Khatm"—the recitation of the Quran—by religious figures and reciters in Saudi Arabia. So far, 1,515 recitations have been performed with prayers for peace in our country and the well-being of our people.

The President wished the pilgrims a successful completion of the holy pilgrimage and a safe return home. He expressed hope that after their return, the pilgrims would contribute to strengthening the atmosphere of goodwill and care in society, combating ignorance through enlightenment, educating the youth, and reinforcing family values.
