Solar panels to be installed on the roofs of apartment buildings

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan, from 1 April 2023, individuals and legal entities that have installed renewable energy installations with a total capacity of up to 100 kW are exempt from paying the following taxes for a period of 3 years from the date of their commissioning, and when installing electricity storage systems with a capacity of at least 25 percent of the installed capacity of solar panels - for 10 years:

- property tax from these devices;

- land tax on plots occupied by devices;

- income tax charged on income from electricity sold by legal entities for the common grid.

From 1 March 2023, it is not required to obtain an additional technical condition for connecting to electric networks installations of renewable energy sources, the capacity of which does not exceed the capacity specified in the technical conditions issued for connection to the unified electric power system.

According to the resolution, business entities, foreign investors are allowed to:

- sell electricity generated from renewable energy sources to state bodies and territorial electric networks - at established tariffs, to other consumers - at mutually agreed prices, including under long-term contracts;

- construct installations of renewable energy sources at facilities owned by other persons on the basis of a lease right and sell the electricity generated at these installations.

From 1 March 2023, the Central Bank and commercial banks are introducing the green energy banking financial product.

From 1 May 2023:

a requirement is introduced to install solar panels on at least 50 percent of the free part of the roofs of multi-storey buildings put into operation;

it is prohibited to issue technical conditions for connection to natural gas networks to newly created greenhouse facilities and producers of cement, brick and lime;

at all filling stations of the republic (gasoline, liquefied and compressed gas), at least 50 percent of the provision of electricity for technical and domestic needs and lighting of their territory is covered by solar panels installed in these facilities.
