Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Alisher Shukurov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, met with Konstantin Kostikov, Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); Anvar Nasritdinov, Climate Strategy Specialist; and Dietmar Weberbacher, Expert from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The meeting focused on developing a roadmap for the national contribution (NDC) to implement climate-optimized agricultural and food systems in Uzbekistan.
Discussion topics included updating the strategy for eco-friendly agribusiness, presenting and confirming preliminary results of climate conditions and decarbonization analysis of the NDC project, identifying investment opportunities for climate-smart agribusiness, and exploring long-term planning in climate-resilient agricultural systems.
Additionally, the discussions addressed issues related to horticulture and water supply, emphasizing that fruit export development and water scarcity prevention should be considered in the project concept.
