Small businesses produce about 50% of Uzbekistan’s GDP
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Currently small businesses produce about 50% of gross domestic product (GDP) compared to 30% in 2000.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov stated this at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of social-economic development of Uzbekistan in 2009 and important priorities of economic programme of 2010.
Uzbek President said this is, first of all result, of support to small and private businesses by the government.
He said that total volume of credit resources allocated to this sector made up 1.8 trillion soums.
As earlier reported, the economy of Uzbekistan grew by 8.1% year-on-year in 2009.
