Small business economic entities produced 33.2% of the GDP produced in Uzbekistan in January-March 2007 (30.1% in January-March 2006) of which 6.3% belong to small enterprises, 12.3% – to microfirms and 14.6% – to individual entrepreneurs.
According to the data provided by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the small business sector provided jobs for 72.4% of total employed in the economy (or 7.52 million persons). The most part of employed falls upon the share of the individual sector – 57.8% of total employed (or some 6 million persons) and small enterprises and microfirms – 14.6% (or 1.51 million persons).
The industrial output of small business entities increased by 33.5% and reached 389.6 billion soums (9.5% of total industrial production). Agricultural output increased by 6.2% and amounted to 712.2 billion soums (95.9% of gross agricultural production).
The share of investments of small business entities in fixed capital investment of the republic was 19.3% (186.9 billion soums), construction works – 47% (181.8 billion soums).
The share of small business in the total volume of retail trade turnover was 43.4% or 876.6 billion soums (up by 19.4%) and in the total volume of paid services rendered to population – 40.7% or 229.8 billion soums (up by 12.6%).
In January-March 2007 exports of small business entities amounted to US$203.8 million or 12.1% of total exports, imports – US$307.6 million or 28.5% of total imports, foreign trade turnover was 18.5% of total turnover by the republic.
