Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On Saturday, Meroj Abdulloev was nominated as a candidate for the post of President of Tajikistan from the Communist Party, Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the National Information Agency of Tajikistan "Khovar", the decision was made today at an extraordinary congress of the party.
The political forces of the country have nominated six candidates to participate in the upcoming October 11 presidential elections.
Earlier, Rustam Latifzoda was nominated for the highest post in the state from the Agrarian Party, Abdukhalim Gafforov from the Socialist Party, Saidjafar Usmonzoda from the Democratic Party, and Rustam Rakhmatzoda from the Economic Reform Party.
The Social Democratic Party has decided not to nominate its candidate.
The ruling People’s Democratic Party has nominated the current president of the country, Emomali Rahmon. He was also nominated as a presidential candidate by the Union of Independent Trade Unions and the country’s Youth Union.
The date of new elections for the head of state was set on August 6 at a joint meeting of both chambers of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan of the sixth convocation.
