Uzbekistan 27/12/2024 SIUT’s new success in science and innovation

SIUT’s new success in science and innovation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Engineering education plays a key role in the economic progress of a country.

SIUT (Samarkand International University of Technology) sees its mission as preparing specialists capable of meeting the global demands of a rapidly developing world. The university creates all necessary conditions for students’ development as future leaders in engineering and technology, the "green" economy, and business, with a focus on innovation and sustainable development.

The outgoing year has been eventful for SIUT: new innovative educational methods have been implemented, the geographical scope of cooperation with leading universities worldwide has expanded, and a number of major events have taken place. The university continues to develop its scientific research activities, providing students with opportunities for professional, academic, and personal growth.

In the lead-up to the new year, the university celebrated another achievement: recognition at the prestigious "SCIENCE AND INNOVATION AWARDS" scientific festival organized by the international scientific journal "Science and Innovation."

Held on 21 December 2024, at the "Turkiston" Palace of Arts, the festival gathered over 200 state and private universities, research institutes from Uzbekistan, young scientists, professors, and academicians from the country, providing a unique platform for experience exchange and scientific results of the year.

As part of the event, exhibitions of university achievements were organized, along with a concert featuring renowned artists. At the "Science and Innovations Awards" festival, Samarkand International University of Technology presented an exposition that included the university’s publications, exhibition materials, and a video presentation of SIUT’s achievements. Organizers highly appreciated SIUT’s exposition, noting its innovative approach and content.

It is important to highlight that SIUT ranked among the top private universities in the country, securing an honorable second place in the ranking (1st place – EMU University, 3rd place – ISFT) and was awarded a Finalist Diploma. This success is particularly significant, considering the young age of the university and its ambitious goals to form a new generation of engineers and technologists for Uzbekistan’s sustainable development.

Since its foundation, SIUT has been steadily moving toward achieving its goals. The university has become a platform for the implementation of advanced international educational standards in engineering. Today, the university offers nine bachelor’s degree engineering programs, a business school, as well as the Chinese Energy Institute and the Korean Institute of Technology and Culture. These educational structures are focused on training specialists capable of solving advanced challenges in key sectors of the economy.

A significant milestone in the university’s development was the gradual introduction of a dual education system starting in February 2023. Dual education allows students to combine theory with practice directly in production settings. At a meeting of the SIUT Senate in November 2024, it was announced that the university is ready to transition to full dual education starting in January 2025, marking a significant step toward integrating the educational process with real sectors of the economy.

It is worth noting that in a relatively short time, SIUT has gained recognition not only nationally but also internationally.

SIUT Rector Professor Yusuf Abdullayev, summarizing the year, emphasized: "The successes of SIUT are the result of the coordinated work of our entire team and students, who demonstrate a high level of responsibility and desire for knowledge. 2024 has been a year of achievements for us, and we are confident that 2025 will open new horizons. We are proud of our students and multinational faculty, who actively work to strengthen the academic potential of the university and the country as a whole. SIUT will continue its efforts to train a new generation of engineers, ready to meet the demands of the times and make a significant contribution to the development of Uzbekistan."
