SISF welcomes winners of Winter Special Olympics
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Social Initiatives Support Fund (SISF) held a meeting with 12 athletes, members of Uzbekistan Special Olympics team, on 13 February in Tashkent. Uzbekistan team won 19 medals at the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games, which was held Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 29 January to 6 February 2013.

The organizers congratulated athletes, who won five gold, four silver and 10 bronze medals at the Games. They expressed gratitude to coaches and parents, as well as hand over gifts.

Special Olympics World Winter Games are organized by Special Olympics International to promote sports among people with disabilities.

This year, over 3,000 athletes from 100 countries participated in the event. Some 12 athletes from Uzbekistan participated at the Games.

Doniyor Tojimetov won a gold medal in figure skating competitions. Artur Haypung and Diana Kuzmina claimed bronze medals in figure skating.

Denis Solodorenko won silver and bronze medals in speed skating, while Yelena Gorlovetskaya clinched second and third places in these competitions.

Aziz Bozorov, Aziz Sobirov, Vasiliy Vikulov, Rakhima Makhkamova, Margarita Bogomolova and Darya Jukova won 4 gold, 2 silver and six bronze medals in snowshoeing.
