Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia and China, through interaction at the UN platform, make a significant contribution to protecting global and regional security. They help to increase the voice of developing countries in global governance, according to CRI (PRC).
In 2020, during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russia, the parties signed a Joint Statement on the development of Chinese-Russian relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction in a new era. This brought bilateral relations to new heights and played a constructive role in strengthening the stability and authority of the UN in global governance.
Against the backdrop of the American policy of unilateral action and protectionism, the US withdrawal from international organizations and treaties, Sino-Russian interaction is of very important strategic importance for maintaining the current international order led by the UN.
In a joint statement, the parties made:
a) in defense of multilateralism, which is based on the principles of the UN Charter;
b) for the creation on the UN platform of international relations of a new type, distinguished by mutual respect, justice and cooperation.
The Sino-Russian Joint Statement underlines the following.
First, the key and leading role of the UN in resolving pressing regional issues.
Secondly, the need to resolve the problem in Syria through political and diplomatic means, taking into account the interests of each of the parties concerned.
Third, the importance of a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.
In general, the Sino-Russian relations of partnership and strategic interaction in the new era not only contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and security, but also ensure the effectiveness of the UN.
