Singapore hosts Uzbek-Singaporean business forum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Fifth Uzbek-Singaporean business forum was held at the Business Federation of Singapore. Representatives of Singapore Association, Federations and companies participated at the event, Jahon news agency reported.

Chairperson of Singaporean Business Federation Tony Chew underlined that for last three years the sides held five business forums, two of which were held in Uzbekistan and three in Singapore. He said this shows great potential in various spheres of economy.

Presentations of Indorama and CFM Holding Ltd attracted interests of participants. These two companies are successfully working in textile and electronics industries.

The Uzbek delegation held presentation of social-economic development of Uzbekistan, existing investment potential and significant opportunities for establishing mutual beneficial cooperation between two states, including Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

The delegation held talks with representatives of such companies as ST Engineering, RH Petrogas ltd, Karotoa Overseas (S) Pte Ltd, Sunningdale Tech Ltd, Thuemmel Schuetze & Partners Llp and others. The delegation also held roundtable and presentation of investment and trade potential of Uzbekistan’s light industry at Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore.

President of Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore Benni Pua said Uzbekistan is one of the most important and attractive states of Central Asia and the federation in interested in expanding trade-economic relations. He said that the visit of the Uzbek delegation will serve as platform for strengthening trade-economic cooperation and give new impulse for development of relations.

At the result of the visit, the sides agreed to create new joint ventures in textile, pharmaceutical, chemical, electronics and other industries. Singaporean businesses expressed readiness to visit Uzbekistan in 2011 to hold next business forum.
