Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister for Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a meeting with Suma Chakrabarti, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on Economic Development, Efficient Governance, and International Cooperation.
The meeting focused on key issues related to the rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the country, expanding human resources in this field, and strengthening international cooperation.
Minister Shermatov emphasized the significance of the ICT sector for the country’s economic growth, noting that it plays a leading role in creating new jobs. Specifically, the number of skilled IT professionals and self-employed freelancers continues to grow, contributing to the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s technological potential.
Suma Chakrabarti highly appreciated the initiatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and expressed support for the sector’s development.
Minister Shermatov also highlighted that, as a landlocked country, Uzbekistan places particular importance on creating well-paid jobs for its youth. He identified the development of the ICT sector as a key task and emphasized the need to attract international companies with experience to conduct a thorough analysis of the country’s opportunities and develop new projects. The Ministry expressed its readiness to introduce advanced innovative approaches in these processes.
The meeting concluded with an agreement for close cooperation to strengthen international partnerships, train highly qualified personnel for the ICT sector, attract investments, and develop special economic zones. Proposals were also discussed aimed at increasing the regional competitiveness of Uzbekistan in the implementation of innovative economic projects.
