Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana called for the development of specific mechanisms aimed at preventing the weakening of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

“The establishment of peace and tranquility in the land of the multinational people of Afghanistan, whose history and fate have been inextricably linked with the Turkic peoples for thousands of years, is the main condition for ensuring strategic stability and security in our region. However, today, against the backdrop of worsening conflicts and wars in other parts of the world, this problem is moving further and further from the view of the international community,” the head of Uzbekistan emphasized.

“We call for the development of specific mechanisms aimed at preventing the weakening of the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and solving acute social problems in this country,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“We need a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, actively participating in regional partnerships and economic cooperation with all its neighbors,” he added.

“The initiative we are putting forward to build the Trans-Afghan Railway will serve precisely this good purpose,” the President emphasized.

“Uzbekistan will continue to provide the necessary assistance to the Afghan people. We will actively continue to provide humanitarian support through the logistics hub and training of Afghan citizens at the Educational Center in Termez,” added Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
