Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviews new project of joint venture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbkistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev began his trip to the Republic of Karakalpakstan by reviewing the industrial potential of the region.

The joint venture "Nukus Electroapparat," established in 2017, produces power equipment for electrical networks. In June of this year, a project to manufacture solar panels, valued at over US$10 million, was launched. Equipment was delivered and installed from the Republic of Korea, and the production process is fully automated. The annual capacity of the project is 273,000 units.

This development will further promote the adoption of alternative energy in the country. Currently, solar panels with a total capacity of 600 megawatts have been installed in various buildings and homes, and this process continues.

Alongside localizing products demanded in the domestic market, the joint venture has also gained the opportunity to export products worth US$4 million and employs 70 people.

The President reviewed the technological process, spoke with employees, and instructed responsible officials to increase the number of such enterprises and to produce high-demand products.

The facility also showcased products manufactured by industry enterprises.

At the plant, solar panels with a capacity of 125 kilowatts have been installed. The electricity generated is used for internal needs, with excess power sold to the regional grid.

In recent years, investments amounting to US$2 billion have led to the commissioning of 10 solar and wind stations with a total capacity of 2.6 gigawatts. Work is also underway on 32 "green" projects with a combined capacity of 18.6 gigawatts, totaling US$19 billion. Overall, by 2030, the goal is to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy balance to 40 percent.
