Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Tuyokli mahalla in the Sharaf-Rashidov district, where he got acquainted with the living conditions of the population.

Using the potential of mahallas to increase employment is today part of state policy. Household plots act here as one of the most effective and accessible resources.

According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 5 March “On measures to support production in households using the industrial method and the use of new reserves in household and dekhkan farms,” significant opportunities were identified.

In Tuyokli mahalla this initiative is clearly visible. Each of the 678 houses has its own garden plot, their total area is 36 hectares. Fruit trees, grapes and vegetables are successfully grown here. 314 households have greenhouses for growing vegetables and flowers.

The head of state visited the house of local resident Abdimumin Karimov.

His household plot occupies 14 acres, of which seven are occupied by a greenhouse. Chickens, bees and livestock are also raised here. The head of the household shared that thanks to the products from his own garden, his income reaches more than 200 million soums a year.

- This typical example of a household demonstrates that if there is initiative in the family, obtaining a good income is possible. Many people have personal plots, and many want to work on them, they just need support. For example, it is important to attract local enterprises to create greenhouses, as well as provide beehives, seedlings, seeds and feed as a single package of services and at an affordable price, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President also held a meeting with the “seven mahallas”. They discussed ways to intensify the use of local resources to increase family incomes and improve their purchasing power, which affects the quality of life, health and development of children, contributing to the progress of society.
