Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke by phone with athletes Elbek Sultanov and Yorkinbek Odilov, as well as taekwondo practitioner Asadbek Toshtemirov, who secured victories at the Paralympic Games in Paris, bringing the total number of gold medals for our team to five.
The President, on behalf of himself and all compatriots, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the athletes, noting that these victories were a fitting tribute to the most cherished and grandest holiday—Independence Day. It was highlighted that the high skill and resilience of our Paralympians in these intense competitions inspire the entire nation, especially the youth.
The President also expressed his gratitude to their coaches and parents and conveyed greetings and congratulations to the athletes who became medalists the previous day.
The champions noted that they felt the support of the head of state and the nation in every performance and expressed their thanks for the attention and conditions provided for the development of the Paralympic movement in our country.
