Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games, which took place at the "Astana Arena" in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana.
The event was also attended by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and other high-ranking guests.
More than 2,000 athletes from around 90 countries, including Uzbekistan, are competing in the Games.
Athletes will participate in various sports, such as kurash, alysh, tug-of-war, archery, horse racing, and other ethnic sports.
The ceremony featured a theatrical performance showcasing the culture and traditions of nomadic peoples.
After the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev returned to Tashkent, where he was seen off at Astana International Airport by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov.
