Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 September, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand to participate in the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The President will deliver a welcoming speech during the plenary session and will hold a series of meetings on the sidelines of the forum.
The main theme of the ninth meeting of the Board is “Building Sustainable Infrastructure for All.”
Participants will discuss key issues of the global economy and consider infrastructure development strategies in Asia and other regions.
High-level delegations from more than 100 countries will attend the summit, along with representatives from the AIIB, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other international organizations, top executives from leading companies, and experts. Approximately 2,000 delegates are expected.
The two-day summit in Samarkand will feature high-level delegations from over 100 countries, leaders and representatives from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other international institutions, top executives from leading foreign companies, and esteemed experts. A total of around 2,000 delegates are expected to participate.
Uzbekistan became a member of the AIIB in November 2016.
In recent years, our country has been one of the largest beneficiaries of the bank. The portfolio of completed and ongoing projects exceeds $3 billion and covers priority areas such as green energy, modernization of road and utility infrastructure, education and healthcare, and support for the private sector.
