The festival has been held each two years starting from 1997. The festival covers almost all continents. Number of participating countries is increasing each year. Some 33 countries participated in 1997 and their number reached to 50 in 2009.

According to the organizers, it is expected that large number of people will visit Uzbekistan during the festival. The organizers added that 46 countries confirmed their participation.

Jahon news agency reported that several foreign broadcasters and journalists expressed their interest to cover festival.

Currently, preparation works are underway in Samarkand. It is planned to open four parks, where guests and citizens of Samarkand will be treated with musical surprises.
