According to the preliminary data as of 1 July 2009, the total sown area of agricultural crops for the yield of the current year in farms of all types was 3.557 million hectares, which was 10,900 hectares less than for the yield of 2008.

The area under grains was 1.598 million hectares (55,800 hectares more than in 2008), cotton - 1.344 million hectares (74,100 hectares less), potatoes - 59,400 hectares (0.2 thousand hectares more), vegetables - 155,700 hectares (2,200 hectares less), forage crops - 284,000 hectares (12,200 hectares more).

Agriculture output of Uzbekistan grew by 4.6% year-on-year in January-June 2009 to 4.985 trillion soums.

The committee said output of plant-growing was 2.657 trillion soums or increased by 3.1% year-on-year in the reporting period.
